The 2008 Komen National Race for the Cure will take place on
Saturday, June 7, 2008. Registration is now OPEN!!

Participating as a team is simple.  You have taken the first step, which is to express interest.  Runners and/or walkers from corporations, agencies, organizations, families, schools, friends, or any combination thereof can form a team.  Team prizes are awarded to the captain of the team that aises the most money, the team that has the top average dollars raised per team member, team captain with the most participants, team captain with “Best Returning Team,” team captain with “Best New Team,” the largest International team,
and the largest Congressional team.

Returning Teams from 2007
All 2007 Teams have been up-loaded in the online registration site.  If you register online, select Join a Team when you register and follow the online procedures; your Team Code is there for you to select. Once you have registered, please contact teams@nationalraceforthecure.org to move you into Team Captain position.

To Request Formation of a New Team
To form a new team, the Team Captain must first complete the Request a Team form online or fill out a Team Sign-Up Form.  Once notification is sent that Team Name and Team Code have been assigned, the Team Captain needs to register to finalize Team formation by registering for the Race.  If you do not wish to register online by credit card, please contact the Teams Coordinator at 703-416-7223 or teams@nationalraceforthecure.org.

Team CHEERING Contest

One of the exciting new components of the Race is starting in 2008 for the teams program is a team cheer competition. The teams who choose to compete will report to a designated area on the Race rally site and perform an original cheer in support of either breast cancer education, survivorship, the Race or Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The winner will be announced later in conjunction with the team sign winner.

Your team can enter the competition the same way you do the team sign competition. The captains of those teams who do enter will receive more detailed information on time and location closer to Race Day.

 

Team Sign Contest

In 2008, the Komen National Race will continue the Annual Team Sign Contest.  We count on our teams to bring their creativity and imagination to the Race by producing a sign that reflects the spirit, energy, and inspiration of their team.

To enter the team sign contest:

  • Produce a sign that reflects the spirit, energy, and inspiration of your team
  • All signs must be hand-held or able to be carried
  • Judging will take place on Race Day at the Volunteer Tent
  • All teams interested in participating in the contest will have their picture taken with their Team Sign on Race Day near the Volunteer Tent
  • Feel free to bring a camera with you for personal photos to share with your teammates! 

**The winning team will have their photograph displayed on the Race website!**
